Twende Africa Tours is a locally owned, Tanzania-government-registered operator based in Moshi, founded in 2014 by managing director Peter Kinyaiya, who grew up on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and worked as a mountain porter for six years before training as a guide. The company runs Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru treks (including the Machame route) plus climbs of Ol Doinyo Lengai, lodge and camping wildlife safaris in parks such as Tarangire, Maasai village and Moshi cultural tours, and Zanzibar beach holidays, with a named team of guides including Baraka, Simon Urio, and Eli. The company holds a 5-star customer rating and TripAdvisor's "meets animal welfare guidelines" designation.
