About
She Shapes History NYC was founded by Nikki Padilla Rivera and Beth Santos and runs a 90-minute walking tour, Badass Women of New York, starting at Grand Central Terminal. The tour spotlights women often left out of mainstream New York history, including Audrey Munson, the sculptor's model whose likeness appears on numerous Manhattan statues; Frances Perkins, the first woman to serve in a U.S. presidential cabinet and an architect of New Deal labor reforms; and Ellen Stewart, founder of the experimental theater venue La MaMa. The wider She Shapes History company runs similar women's-history walking tours in other cities, including Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra.
